Martin Vermette Named Canada’s 2026 HR Leader of the Year

Yoplait Liberté Canada is proud to announce that Martin Vermette, Vice President, Human Resources and Communications, has been named Canada’s 2026 HR Leader of the Year by Manage HR Canada. This recognition follows a rigorous evaluation process conducted by a panel of senior executives, industry thought leaders, and members of the magazine’s editorial board.

This distinction highlights Martin’s career as a transformational HR leader recognized for his ability to align people, culture, leadership, and business execution during periods of significant organizational change. It crowns an exceptional year in which Martin played a central role in Yoplait Liberté Canada’s evolution at a defining moment in its history.

Over the past 12 months, Martin has demonstrated what transformational HR leadership truly means: building an HR function from the ground up while helping transform an entire organization for the future. Since joining Yoplait Liberté Canada in January 2025, Martin and his team have established the human, cultural, and organizational foundations of a newly integrated company within the Sodiaal Group and Yoplait International, while supporting a strategic ERP transformation and an ambitious growth agenda.

Beyond implementing new structures and practices, his leadership created the clarity, trust, and alignment needed to guide the organization through this major transformation. He distinguished himself through his ability to connect business objectives with the employee experience, combining strategic vision, operational rigor, empathy, and a remarkable capacity to deliver results.

As highlighted by Manage HR Canada in its article The Leadership Behind Lasting Transformation (read the full article), Martin has demonstrated that Human Resources can be far more than a support function—it can be a true driver of transformation, alignment, and organizational performance.

Martin has a rare ability to turn vision into action while keeping people at the heart of every decision. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping our culture, developing our teams, and ensuring the success of our transformation.

For Martin, this recognition belongs first and foremost to the teams who helped build the new organization.

I am deeply honoured to receive this award. But this recognition is above all a reflection of the collective work accomplished by our employees, managers, and HR teams. Together, we have built much more than an organization—we have created a culture, an identity, and the foundations of a company focused on the future.

This recognition celebrates an exceptional leader, but it also reflects the belief that has guided our transformation: the most enduring successes are those built together. It highlights the strength of our culture, the commitment of our teams, and our organization’s ability to evolve while remaining true to its values. A source of pride for everyone at Yoplait Liberté Canada and an inspiration for the next chapter of our journey.
